In 1976 Pastors Clara and the late Billy McClay, Started house meetings in 83 Glenvarna Drive, Glengormley. Soon these meetings outgrew the house and they moved to the Orange Hall that was on Moss Road soon outgrowing this, God spoke to Pastor Billy about buying the present site at Linden Lea. Pastor Billy and others spent many months converting the Hall into a sanctuary for Worship and Prayer. At the opening service Pastor Sandy Thompson prophesied that this building would be know as the Minor Hall at the Open Arms Centre. Pastor Billy was given a vision for the Open Arms and proceeded to set about building the Open Arms that we know today.
